Starved Rock Saplings Story Time - Animal Adaptations. Join Park Naturalists for a story about Animal Adaptations, fun crafts, and a hike or game. When: Saturday August 12, 2023 at 9:30 am. Where: Starved Rock Visitor Center. Who: Children ages 3-10 with adult chaperones. how: Pre-register via email to Lisa.Sons@Illinois.Gov. Description:  Why does a beaver have a paddle-like tail?  Why do raccoons have a dark mask around their eyes?  Why do owls turn their heads almost all the way around?  Join park naturalists in their search for the answers to animals and their adaptations that help them live the way they do in their various habitats.  Participants will enjoy a storybook on animal adaptations followed by a craft and a short nature hike.
